Accounting Career Exploration
This Chapter committee administers the Accounting Career Awareness Program, in which CPAs visit area schools to tell students about the variety of career opportunities available with an accounting degree. This is how we help preserve the future of the profession, recruiting the best and the brightest. Contact Linda Messing if you'd like to get involved.

Advertising & Public Relations
The Image Enhancement Task Force is responsible for the Chapter's advertising and public relations initiatives. For more information about these opportunities, contact Linda Messing.

Business & Industry
This group organizes specialized programs and CPE for CPA members in business, industry, government and education. Contact Diane Joiner to become part of this important planning group.

Community Involvement
Nothing is more rewarding than giving back to the great community in which we live. The Community Involvement task force meets a few times throughout the year to think up great ways to support charitable organizations. Our projects range from building houses to toy drives to raising money by walking 5Ks. This group also organizes our annul Casino Night scholarship fundraiser. Contact Kaira Tanwar for more info.

Continuing Professional Education
CPAs must earn a certain amount of continuing education hours per year in order to maintain their license. The CPE committee is in charge of our annual course catalog and tax conference. If you are interested in the latest accounting topics, know great speakers or just want more information regarding the committee, please contact Kaira Tanwar.

Financial Literacy
The Austin Chapter plays an important role in TSCPA's statewide Financial Literacy campaign. The Chapter's Financial Literacy task force is always looking for new members to carry out programs, including training nonprofit boards, faith communities and our newest program, Jr. Duel in the Capitol City, geared to high school students. Contact Diane Joiner for more info.

Leadership Academy
This Chapter task force has the privilege of developing the program for training the profession's future leaders. Contact Diane Joiner if you'd like to participate.

Membership
The Austin Chapter gets new Members all the time, and we make sure new and existing Members have the latest information about benefits, volunteer opportunities, and all the other resources available to them as Chapter Members. To learn more about these important efforts, contact Diane Joiner.

New CPAs
The Chapter's robust Leaders Emerging in the Accounting Profession (LEAP) group plans networking events, group outings, volunteer activities and social functions geared towards members (CPAs, students and candidates) focused on career growth and committed to enhancing the appeal of the Chapter to the next generation of leaders. Contact Kaira Tanwar for details.

Public Affairs
The Chapter's robust Public Affairs committee researches candidates for legislative office in the Chapter area, deciding where your PAC donations go and making recommendations to the statewide PAC. To get involved in this important process, contact Diane Joiner.

Scholarships
The Chapter began a robust scholarship program in 2005, awarding three $1,000 scholarships to outstanding local accounting majors. The scholarship task force also named one $1,500 scholarship after Bette Williams, in honor of her years of dedicated service to the Austin Chapter and the accounting profession. The Chapter has awarded $10,000 in scholarships to area students in recent years. If you'd like to join this fun, rewarding effort, contact Diane Joiner.

Student/College Activities
This group will work throughout the year to develop programs and activities conducive to preparing students for the CPA profession. Activities could include participation in panel discussions at campuses; networking events specifically geared toward students; providing mentor/student program; encouraging students to become TSCPA/Austin CPA Chapter members and apply for the Chapter’s scholarships. Contact Diane Joiner for more information.
